Today I am focusing on a gravel driveway installation that we completed earlier in the year. It was a substantial project because the homeowner Julie Hughes had recently purchased the property and the driveway had been left to deteriorate and had severe drainage problems.
The original drive was made up of old slabs which were no longer level and lacked sub base which was leading to flooding. As you can see the before and after transformation on this driveway is stunning. Julie chose a gravel driveway with a block paving border. The centre gravel is moonstone flint which is a striking mixture of different colours including blues, black, grey and cream. Moonstone flint is naturally quarried resulting in variations in size, colour and shape. Its angular edges can really reflect the light in the daylight beautifully making it eye catching. Ultimate kerb appeal which can only help in adding value to the property.
We asked Julie, now having lived with the new driveway for a few months for an honest appraisal of us here at Ideal Building and Landscaping
I moved into the property in October 2020. The driveway was old slabs which were poorly laid and no longer level. Shortly after moving in due to heavy rain and the condition of the original driveway there was extensive flooding. The flooding was also affecting neighbours as there was not enough sub base underneath and the water was just running off. I knew I had to get the driveway sorted fast. The owner of your company Sam is local and I was aware that you are a family run firm. Sam had just finished driveways on two properties locally on May lane and they looked fabulous.
I called Sam and he came over to give me a quote. He is a pleasant young man, very helpful and he gave me plenty of time to fully discuss everything. Perfect for front of house. For peace of mind I did do some checking and found that your company is a Which? Trusted Trader and backed by the No Rogue Trader Scheme.
The work started promptly and the team were here every day until it was finished. When I moved in I had the worst driveway on the street and now I have the best. Thank you to Sam and all the team at Ideal Building and Landscaping.Julie Hughes – Wythall
Thank you Julie.
Using block paving to create a border really compliments a gravel driveway. For this border Julie chose Tobermore Tegula Trio in cedar features. To finish off we installed KMD fencing with a with horizontal lattice top.
