Getting your garden summer ready

Keep on top of weeds

I’ve never met anyone who enjoys weeding. It’s not kind on one’s back or knees and it never really ends. If you attack weeding little and often though you will benefit from a much cleaner patio. It is important to make sure that you pull out the whole root so it will not sprout again. You can nowadays purchase special weed inhibited paver sand which will help prevent them from growing.

It is important to not let leaves build up over the autumn and winter as they become wet and soggy and can grow mould. A stiff brush or leaf blower can help you keep your patio clear.

Brushing and sweeping to keep your patio clean

Every patio will attract dirt and stains when regularly used and dust and grime when it’s left to fend for itself in the winter months. When the sun starts to shine and summer is drawn in you will start to notice your patio is looking grubby and uninviting. Regularly sweep to get rid of dirt and stains and then pour on a bucket of hot soapy water and brush with a stiff brush. You’ll be amazed what this simple action will achieve and how much better your patio will look.
