Check out this stunning block paving driveway transformation that we have just completed for Jim Ravenscroft and his wife in Kings Norton, Birmingham. As you can see the old concrete slab driveway is uneven and has a big drop down step to another level. This is not suitable or accommodating to the elderly and those with mobility or health issues. Our remit was to level out the drive way and make it wheelchair and mobility friendly. As you can see form the before and after photographs, we have achieved just that as well as adding kerb appeal with the stunning choice of block paving colours. Jim chose an Eton block paver with the colour brindle and setting it off with a contrasting border in charcoal. A great choice.
You can see that the original driveway was hazardous and could really restrict the freedom of those with mobility issues. In the photographs you you can also see that there is a drain which looks unsightly. See in the after photos below how we have blended it in almost seamlessly to the rest of the new drive way.
With the work now complete we asked Jim’s son Kevin for his honest appraisal of our performance being that he was there helping his dad every step of the way.
We came across Sam and his local business Ideal Building and landscapes through the No Rogue Trader Scheme which works in partnership with Trading Standards. I contacted the No Rogue Traders Scheme as my parents are elderly and so we wanted to be sure we were getting a reliable firm that had been thoroughly vetted and with fair value for money prices. I did get one other quote but they had no availability at all until well into next year and it was something that I wanted to get done sooner rather than later. Sam was reasonably priced and the quality is top notch.
There used to be a stairlift on the driveway to help my parents get down to the different level. Dad wanted it levelled off to make it easier for both he and mum who uses a wheelchair. The new driveway is smooth with no uneven trip hazards as with the old blocks and it now has a ramp to ease getting into the house. The installers were great starting on a Wednesday morning and working solidly all week and then coming back to finish it all on the Monday.
My Dad’s neighbour has already commented on how good it looks and so hopefully with your ad board outside you’ll be getting lots of enquiries. You deserve it. Well done.
