Driveway entrance and Patio transformation in Olton, Solihull

Here at Ideal Building and Landscapes we have just completed this Tarmac Driveway entrance for Claire Nichols in Olton, Solihull. Claires original driveway was very typical of the age of the properties in that area. The original driveway was concrete slabs which has become uneven and had started to sink. This is often referred to as slab settlement. It is the sinking movement of a concrete slab when the soil below the slab is no longer supporting the weight of it. This can become a trip hazard but also it makes the driveway look unsightly. This can really detract from the home’s kerb appeal.
As you can see from the before photographs above there was also weeds and grass growing between the slabs. Weeding between concrete slabs is time consuming as the root is tucked away and hard to reach underneath. If you do want to give that a try then it is recommended that you do it after heavy rain when the soil is softest. You need to get the root or sadly those weeds will be back. Claire also wanted to open up the driveway to create extra space for parking.
Claire opted to go for Tarmac with a double block border around the sides and a triple block border at the front. The result looks stunning and the block border has created a “picture framing” look to the driveway entrance. Tarmac is a cost effective solution and when laid professionally not only looks great but it is so hard wearing and can take the weight of any vehicle day after day for the long term.
We asked Claire for her feedback now she had been living with her new driveway and patio for a couple of weeks.
