Block Paving in Solihull

We have recently completed new block paving for Alan and Angela in Cheswick Green, Solihull.
Before commencing any driveway for new block paving we draw up a plan of the driveway with all of the dimensions to make sure that we have the right materials and that our customer is 100% happy with the design and the work to be undertaken.
One of the biggest complaints about block paving when installed by shoddy trades people is when sections of the block paving sinks. In the main this is because the base has either not been prepared properly or the layers have not been installed properly. Preparation is everything when installing block paving. Firstly we dig out at least 150mm below the damp proof course and incorporate a slope where the land is flat so that the surface water can drain off.
Next, we then put in edge restraints such as kerbs or edging stones before applying a sub base of at least 100mm and fully compact it down at least six times. A layer of damp, shard sand is then added and screed to the finished level ready for the new block paving blocks to be placed 10-15 mm above our target level before being compacted. Then to finish, kiln-dried sand is swept into the joints using a broom, the paving is compacted and then the sand is swept in again until each joint is filled. When finished the new block paving looks fabulous and you’ll wonder why you didn’t have it done earlier.

I was off work and whilst out walking I saw your guys at Ideal building and landscapes installing block paving for one of my neighbours. Being my regular route I walked past a few times over the course of a few days and could see that your guys were doing a proper job.
I could see that they were digging deeper and laying a better foundation. I want my new block paving to last. It is a job that I only want to do once. The fitters arrived and worked hard to complete our driveway in a few days. We have been really happy with it.
